Welcome to Swansea!

The place with the best of both worlds; the beach and the city! Swansea offers thriving nightlife, endless socials and new friendships that can last a lifetime.

Students bring the exciting hustle and bustle to our beautiful seaside city and we love it! Being a university student marks a time in your life where you can explore all avenues and make memories without too many external commitments - this is your time.

We, at UniGaff, are committed to making your experience even better by providing you with your perfect home.

Due to Swansea being home to numerous campuses, it’s helpful to choose the right area depending on which campus you will be based on. If you are based at Swansea University Singleton Campus, popular areas to live in are Brynmill, Uplands, Sketty & Sandfields.

For students studying at University of Wales Trinity St Davids, Mount Pleasant, City Centre, St Thomas, & Sandfields would be the recommended locations for you.

Lastly, for Swansea Bay University Campus, areas such as Port Tennant, St Thomas, City Centre and SA1 Marina are growing in popularity, but a lot of students prefer to live in the traditional student areas of Brynmill and Uplands because there is a regular bus service that runs to and from the campus.

Day life: Whether you fancy a walk, swim or surf, you will be able to find the perfect beach for the occasion down the Gower! Providing copious amounts of beaches, Gower is a real beauty and is home to Rhossili Bay which was voted the best beach in the UK and top ten in Europe.

Langland and Caswell Bay are two smaller beaches, popular for sunbathing in the summer and ‘coffee and cake’ walks in the winter. Three Cliffs and Oxwich are two bigger beaches, offering long scenic walks, on the beach or the cliffs.

If you want waves, the best place is usually Llangennith. If you’re not a beach bum- don’t worry, you should head to the Mumbles to find some independent quaint shops to browse through and pause for a flat white and watch the world go by.

Nightlife: When it comes to nightlife, you have multiple options.

If you are pub crawling, having a pre drink before town, or just looking for a quiet ‘one’ in your local pub, then Uplands/ Brynmill is the place to be. The proximity between each pub and bar makes getting around cheap and easy. When these places close at around midnight, you may fancy a cheeky boogie.

Thankfully, these two areas are just a short distance away from the city centre, where you can go to Wind Street and find a busy strip of bars and clubs.

Although there is usually something going on most nights of the week, Wednesdays are a particularly big day for students; many social societies and sports teams take to the street in herds of questionable fancy dress outfits.

The next day… Let me guess, you’ve missed another 9AM lecture. But don’t worry because you can head back down to where it all began... Uplands! In the daytime, there are a wide variety of cafes and restaurants you can indulge in. From fry ups to veggie treats, you can be sure to give that stomach the recovery it needs.
